  • 'MS Thomson Spirit' 33,930 GT, berthed in Piraeus on 22nd April 2017.  She began her life in 1983 as Holland America Line's (HAL) 'MS Niew Amsterdam.'
  • Another Japanuse Ferry that found a new life in Greece!  'Adamantios Korais' is seen  berthed in Piraeus on 21st April 2017  Originally the 'Visva' of 1987 (Higashi Nihon Ferry), she was sold into Greek afterlife in 2007 where she operates between Piraeus - Kithnos - Serifos - Sifnos - Milos - Kimolos - Folegandros - Sikinos - Ios - Santorini..
  • The 1980 built 'Phivos' has had several owners since her original ( (ISNASA),  She seems to have spent most of her life in the Med, coming to Nova ferries in 2007, since which she sails mainly between Piraeus and Aegina.
  • With one tug pulling on the port side and this one pushing from  starboard, the YM World swings to face the Eastern Med at the start of her voyage from Greece to China.

  • The 15,781 GT 'Lois Aura' laid up near Salamina (Piraeus) on 21st April 2017.  This 1968 German built passenger ship began her life as Norwegian  Cruise Lines 'Starward.'  Since leaving the NCL fleet in 1995 she has sailed with Festival Cruises (Bolero), coming to Louis Cruise Lines in 2006.  Her future now appears to be sale for scrap.
  • The freight RO-RO Kapitan Christos is passing Perama inbound to the port of Elefsis  from Chios.  Built in 1970, this old lady has had several owners and five names, spending most of her life (it seems) in the Med and more recently, serving the Islands from the Greek Mainland. 3633 GT.
  • The former SNCM ferry 'Corse' laid-up near Palokia (Piraeus) on 21st April 2017. She was built in 1983 and sailed from French Mediterranean ports until 2016, when she was sold to unidentified owners. Arriving at her current position on 21st March 2016, the future of this 12686 GT vessel seems uncertain.

  • 'Superferry' approaching the Island of Tinos on 20th Aril 2017.  The former Japanese coastal ferry 'Koganei Maru, has been plying Greek Island waters since 2016.  Built in 1995 she has a GT of 4258
  • The former 'Sealink' ferry 'Prince Laurent' enjoying her Greek 'afterlife' at the Island of Tinos on 20th April 2017.  She was built in 1974 for Regie voor Maritiem Transport Belgie (RMT) and used on the Oostende - Dover service until being sold to Greek interests in 1992.  Some re-building has taken place, but her unmistakeable lines identify her long history.  Long may she sail!
  • 'Blue Star Naxos' heads for Mykenos on 20th April 2017,  after a short call at the Island of Tinos, on passage from Piraeus. 20th April 2017.  GT 10438, built in 2002.
  • The  2006 built 1723 GT product tanker 'Apiliotis' seems to spend most of her time sailing between the Greek Islands.Seen here berthed in the island of Syros on 20th April 2017..
  • MSC Celine is stopped and awaiting entry to Piraeus container port after arriving from the Italian Port of Civitavecchia. Built in 2007 she has a GT of 32060
  • The 14,000 TEU container ship YM World is stopped  awaiting to enter tPiraeus container port in the early morning of 20th April 2017.  She has arrived from Antwerp and after cargo work in Piraeus, she departed for China via the Suez Canal. The vessel was built in 2015 and has a GT of 146700
  • YM Increment makes a fine site in the early morning light as she heads to sea from Piraeus, bound for the Turkish Port of Canakkale.  This box feeder ship was built in 2006 and has a GT of  16.448.
  • 'Silver Cloud' in Piraeus on 19th April 2017. Owned by Silverseas Cruises, she was built in 1994 and has a GT of 16,927.
  • P and O's 'Arcadia' seen in Piraeus on 19th April 2017. This 84,342 GT ship had quite a chequered history before she entered service in 2005.  As a Fincantieri 'Vista Class' vessel , she was ordered by HAL in 2000, but later allocated to Cunard to become Queen Victoria.  Carnival then decided to transfer her to P and O shortly before her launch.  Happily, a later 'Vista' build was named Queen Victoria!
  • The 2015 built 75,283 GT vehicle carrier 'Thermopylae' seen here manouvering around the Piraeus anchorage.  Her somwhat faded condition makes her look uncared for...which I'm sure is not the case!
  • The 40,542 GT container vessel 'Zim Constanza' has arrived off the port of Piraeus on 19th April 2017.  Built in 2010 and flagged in Israel, she is awaiting clearence to proceed to a berth in the container port.
